Finally! When I was beginning to think and fear, for that matter
, that Google will be the mastermind of all information around the globe, here comes a google-competitor. Cuil.com, pronounced cool
, is a search engine that not only provides results faster than google, but organizes information upon relevancy. God, that is refreshing!

I’ve searched for the keyword “streaming” and the results that i have received are organized into tabs: all results / streaming video / streaming audio / streaming media / etc Plus, each tab has a category organization that helps you better navigate through the results. So you either browse the results in the list, as you did before on google, or yahoo or any other search engine, or you use the embedded classification.

the saga continues
What do you think is the first thing I do when entering my blog’s admin panel? The very first thing is to go to the counterize section to see what IP’s have visited me, who is online now and what pages were most visited today… of course, I also get all sorts of statistics from google analytics.

For instance, since the last post, I have received visits from Seattle, Los Angeles and area, New York, Florida, London, Frankfurt, Lebanon, France and Romania. As you can imagine, while most people that visit my blog use automatic ips, they are anonymous to me. But, for some of them, their real identity is obvious from their IP’s. So, this Continue reading »

Rhizome curates an online exhibition of projects that reffer to Google way of life :).
“The selection of projects in Google Art, or How to Hack Google illuminate and critique the influence of this expanding online institution. The projects include ad hacks that attempt to foil Google’s seemingly unstoppable business machinery, playful re-interpretations of search results and alterations of its geographical worldview. Together, they elevate and critique Google’s logic, while recognizing its own deepening relationship with our culture, behavior and lives.”
Curated by Ana Otero for Rhizome.
I liked the simplicity (Maeda, again) of the concept for the GoogleHouses project. It is a website that searches houses images on google by different keywords (you can build interior image collections - bedrooms, bathrooms etc) and exhibits them in a 3D model of walls and interiors.

Interesting material invented by Steven Kistler in 1930s over a bet
… This material now revived by NASA appears to be the material for the future. Prevents pollution, insulates from extreme temperature … global warming, watch out!

I’ve just read on CNN.com that Google has acquired a stake in Chinese community Web site Tianya.cn.
What seems interesting is that percentages are subject of speculations .. from under 10 to as high as 60.
Cnn also reads that “Google is rushing to close the gap with rival Baidu.com Inc, which dominated the search market in China in the second quarter with a 58.1 percent share, according to research firm Analysys International. Baidu recently won approval to do its own reporting rather than simply show news search results, while Google is promoting a Chinese-language map search service and online word processing programs. Both are trying to build online library services.” Continue reading »
