Talking to some friends today about this issue, it hit me that there is a potential need for online “swiss banking accounts” for online processed personal data. You place the sensitive information in the black box, and the end-program that needs authentification takes from there the criptic info, not the real data (real person identification).
Second life is about a virtual world. How about inventing a virtual Switzerland?

There really is no need for a virtual Switzerland, the real one is wondeful enough! As far as maintenance of client confidentiality, that is not a problem. We have a distance handling facility which combined with the legally enshrined protection of client confidentiality means an absolute protection for our clients privacy.

Hi Sebastian. Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to share info. What I find interesting about Switzerland banks is the fact that people have total discretion with their transaction and personal data.
This is something no webservice actually offers online. I’m not referring here to the e-banking systems (which are very reliable in fact), but rather to simple internet service providers (such as e-mail providers or searching engines ) that not only will not give you discretion on your moves, but they actually follow every step you make and keep logs of whatever you do while online on their websites.
They also benefit of these personal statistics they make. Which is not bad in itself, but considering the huge number of people that access their services, I guess China is a cute little baby comparing to the strict observation these services can actually provide.
